asleep
i saw you last night in my dreams
i don't know if you noticed me
as i watched you laugh and smile
your spirit was so alive
your eyes aglow
i suppose it should have cheered me
i cried instead
you saw me and waved
i told you to come back
you just kissed my face and turned to leave
down upon my knees i begged you
not to go again
we need you here
the memory of you has become so dim
your light so small
the tears fell as i wept
you pulled me to my feet and said
i'd see you again
then i awoke
i prayed for sleep to find me again
